Cookie Policy
This website sets no cookies. Not one, of any kind, first-party or third-party. This page explains what that means in practice and why there is no consent banner.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later requests, which is how sites recognise a returning visitor or remember a setting. Related technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, tracking pixels and browser fingerprinting — achieve similar results by different means, and are treated the same way in this policy.
This site sets no cookies
Vanguard Hub sets no cookies of its own, and permits no third party to set a cookie through it. Specifically, and to leave no room for doubt, there is none of the following on any page of this website:
- no analytics or measurement of any kind;
- no advertising tags, conversion pixels or remarketing tags;
- no social media buttons, embeds, or share widgets;
- no video or map embeds;
- no chat widget, support tool, or feedback tool;
- no A/B testing, personalisation or heatmap tool;
- no session identifiers, because there is nothing to hold a session for;
- no web fonts or scripts loaded from an external host — the site uses the fonts already installed on your device, and its only script file is served from this domain.
The consequence is that this site makes no external requests when you view it. Everything the page needs comes from vanguardhub.online.
Why there is no consent banner
Consent banners exist to obtain permission before non-essential cookies are placed. This site places none, so there is nothing to ask permission for. A banner here would be a statement about behaviour that does not occur, and we would rather not make one. If you have visited this site and seen no cookie notice, that is the reason.
What happens instead when you visit
Two things, both described in full in the privacy policy.
First, the server that delivers this site keeps ordinary technical logs, as practically every web server does. A log entry typically records the IP address, the date and time, the URL requested, the status code, the amount of data sent, and the browser user agent string. These are kept by our hosting provider for up to 12 months and are used for availability, fault diagnosis and abuse prevention. They are not cookies: nothing is stored on your device, and nothing follows you between sites.
Second, nothing else. No record is written to your browser, no identifier is assigned to you, and no profile is created.
Browser storage and fingerprinting
This site uses no localStorage, no sessionStorage and no IndexedDB. It does not attempt to identify your device by examining its characteristics — screen size, installed fonts, graphics capabilities or any similar signal. The single JavaScript file on the site operates the navigation menu and highlights the current heading in the contents list, it is short and readable, and it writes nothing anywhere. You can read it at /assets/main.js.
Controlling cookies in your browser anyway
Although this site sets none, other sites do, and every major browser lets you manage them. The controls are usually found under settings, in a privacy or site data section, and they generally allow you to view and delete cookies already stored, block third-party cookies, block all cookies for particular sites, and clear browsing data when the browser closes. Private or incognito windows discard cookies at the end of the session. Blocking cookies broadly will break sign-in on sites that need them, which is why per-site control is usually more workable than a blanket block. Your browser’s own help pages describe the exact steps for the version you are running.
If this ever changes
We may one day have a reason to introduce something that uses cookies. If that happens, this page will be updated to describe exactly what is set, by whom, for what purpose and for how long, and a working consent mechanism will be in place before any non-essential cookie is placed — not in the same release, but before it. Until this page says otherwise, the position is as described above: no cookies, no tracking, no banner.
